Castles, Horses, Volcanoes and Super Animals! Oh MY!

This is our first time using our kindergarten blog!  What an exciting way to show people some of the things we are doing in the kindergarten class.  Right now, the kindergartners have been put into groups where they will learn more deeply about a certain subject.  Our goal is for children to feel like school is a place where teachers and students can learn together.  We explore what we know about the subject, what we want to learn and eventually talk about what we have learned.  What kinds of things are we learning and doing?  Some students are creating castles (cardboard boxes become castles fully equiped with flag, moat and turrets).  Others are learning about horses (with a field trip to Patty Schoenhuber's house to visit her horses).  My group is learning about super animals because of such a high interest in super heros (e.g. animals that are super big, super jumpers, super workers, etc.)  Jean's group is learning about volcanoes (and will have a chance to make and explode their own volcanoes).   One student's comment was "I LOVE my group!"
