Oh MY!</rss:title><rss:link>http://www.lincolncs.org/kindergarten-blog/2010/2/10/castles-horses-volcanoes-and-super-animals-oh-my.html</rss:link><dc:creator>Early Primary Grades Editor</dc:creator><dc:date>2010-02-10T20:57:30Z</dc:date><dc:subject></dc:subject><content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>This is our first time using our kindergarten blog!&nbsp; What an exciting way to show people some of the things we are doing in the kindergarten class.&nbsp; Right now, the kindergartners have been put into groups where they will learn more deeply about a certain subject.&nbsp; Our goal is for children to feel like school is a place where teachers and students can learn together.&nbsp; We explore what we know about the subject, what we want to learn and eventually talk about what we have learned.&nbsp; What kinds of things are we learning and doing?&nbsp; Some students are creating castles (cardboard boxes become castles fully equiped with flag, moat and&nbsp;turrets).&nbsp; Others are learning about horses (with a field trip to Patty Schoenhuber's house to visit her horses).&nbsp; My group is learning about super animals because of such a high interest in super heros (e.g. animals that are super big, super jumpers, super workers, etc.)&nbsp; Jean's group is learning about volcanoes (and will have a chance to make and explode their own volcanoes).&nbsp;&nbsp; One student's comment was "I LOVE my group!"</p>
