Lincoln Action Plan -- Network Acquisition Goals and Costs
To expand dial-up Internet access from a single connection to
multiple connections.
Option A. Add a proxie server and VICOM software. This allows
5 simultaneous users on a single telephone line. These figures include
the cost of a hub, network cards, and cabling and assumes that a network
server is not purchased, as specified in Goal 2. This option might be desirable
as a first step toward achieving Internet access in each classroom. Purchase
of a file server as noted in Goal 2 could be a later phase.

To create a mini-lab which consists of twelve networked computers
and a laser printer. This lab would be used for classroom instruction
and would provide a computer lab for community access and instructional
programs. With the addition of these computers, the computer to student
ratio within the school would be four students to every one computer (4:1).
Classroom teachers would be able to take an entire class to the lab, although
two students would need to share one computer.
