Lincoln Action Plan -- Additional Human Resources in Support of Technology

Human resources to support information technology already exist to some extent at Lincoln. However, additional human resources will be required to support the complete implementation of this technology plan.

Professional Development Resources

In terms of the professional development needs of teachers and staff, a combination of resources will be required. The Lincoln faculty is comprised of many talented individuals who already have experience using and employing information technology in the curriculum. In some instances, it makes sense to capitalize on this expertise and to utilize our own faculty members as mentors and trainers. The ANESU school district offers graduate level courses that include information technology skills and concepts. ANESU also offers after school workshops on information technology skills and related topics. Within the building, the librarian assists teachers and students with research and often uses information technology resources to achieve program goals and objectives. This variety of professional development opportunities is needed to meet specialized needs, interests and abilities.

As needs and special interests are identified, some outside consultants may be needed to assist the faculty and staff in its professional growth. Consultants may work with the faculty and staff to support special projects or to present topics at workshops held after school or during faculty in-service. Faculty and staff members should be encouraged to attend conferences and events which foster their professional goals. In this way, additional human resources will be needed to support new and changing needs, and funds should be available in the technology budget for this purpose.

Technical Support

The need for technical support is described in the section entitled Operations, Maintenance and Upgrades. It is clear that a technical support person is needed at least one day a week at the school. While the primary function of the technical support person would be to keep the computer systems functioning efficiently, this person could also serve as a local resource for answering quick "how to" questions on software and general operating system procedures and be an available, on-site resource for Lincoln teachers, students and staff.
