I. Review of Minutes - April 14, 1997

The minutes were reviewed. The only correction was that the date of the meeting was incorrectly noted as April 4, 1997 instead of April 14, 1997.

II. Discussion. Debi Gray reported that Linda Norton, Lincoln Town Librarian, is interested in participating on the Committee.

III.Vision Statement Reviewed

The Committee made the following changes to the first draft of the Vision Statement: 1) remove the phrase from pre-school to adulthood; 2) remove the statement "Technology is a tool to support learning" because it is redundant; 3) change all occurrences of LCS to Lincoln Community School; 4) change the word "basic" to "working" in first point under Committee Goals; 5)change the wording about student to computer ratios to "Establish a recommended student to computer ratio."; 6)Add a goal that the plan would ensure access to telecommunications resources to Lincoln residents.

IV. Other Corrections/Comments to Draft

The Committee reviewed the other sections of the draft plan. Rick suggested that the software inventory be alphabetized and also include the version numbers of the software. Debi, Chris and Matt offered to work on this project.

The Committee noted that a lot of work still needs to be done on the plan. Bill Jesdale offered to work on the assessment of faculty skills. Sandy suggested that Bill look at the staff survey created by Chris Varney of Hinesburg Elementary School. Bill also volunteered to get together some cost figures for increasing the telecommunications capacity at the school for next year. Dave Marsters said he would work on the demographics section of the plan. Rick would begin to think about the section for community access and also begin to rough out a network plan.

V. Next Meeting Date. The date of the next meeting was set for Tuesday, May 20th at 7:00 p.m. at Lincoln Community School.

VI. Adjournment. The meeting adjourned at approximately 8:40 p.m.

Respectfully submitted,

Sandra A. Lathem
