LCS Technology Plan
Overview of Planning Process

The Lincoln faculty discussed the need for an information technology plan during a meeting in early January, 1997. The faculty realized that it wanted to move forward with information technology at Lincoln Community School but that it needed direction and planning before it could present a new initiative to the School Board and Lincoln community.

During this discussion, the faculty endorsed the creation of a new technology committee. Bill Jesdale, Principal at LCS, agreed to solicit new members from the Lincoln Community by posting an announcement in the school's newsletter. A few faculty members agreed to participate. Sandy Lathem, Technology Coordinator for ANESU, also offered to help. A School Board member was asked to participate in the Committee.

The first meeting of the Technology Committee was held on March 25, 1997. Three community members had volunteered and David Marsters agreed to represent the School Board. Several teachers had also agreed to participate. At the first meeting, the Committee decided to invite several students from the sixth grade to participate in the Committee.

The group agreed to undertake the work of writing a local technology plan for Lincoln Community School. The Committee agreed to use planning materials developed by the Vermont Department of Education and the Vermont Institute for Science, Mathematics and Technology (VISMT). It also agreed to follow the ANESU District Technology Plan (adopted October 26, 1994 by the ANESU Board) and to adhere to educational standards set forth in Vermont's Framework of Standards and Learning Opportunities.

The goal of the Committee would be to write an information technology plan during the early spring and summer months. The completed plan would be ready to present to the School Board by Fall, 1997. Since March, several committee members met throughout the summer of 1997 to work on specific parts of the plan. As the 1997-1998 school year begins, the plan is near completion. Faculty members were asked to review a draft at a September faculty meeting. School board review of the plan is scheduled for November, 1997.

The following are minutes taken at these planning meetings:
