Lincoln Technology Vision and Mission Statements

LCS Definition of Information Technology

In crafting the vision of information technology at Lincoln Community School, the definition of information technology must not be limited to computer technology alone. The use of the word technology in this plan is meant to emcompass all types of information technology, including video, video-conferencing, audio and voice technologies, satellite and broadcast technologies and any new and emerging technologies that support learning.

LCS Vision Statement

We believe that ...

Used by educators and support staff, students and community members, technology is an important component of life-long learning. Technology helps support eventual success for every individual. Technology is a tool to support the curriculum, to reinforce prior learning, to increase productivity and to encourage creativity and problem-solving.

We believe that ...

  • Access to technology must be equitably distributed, without regard to gender and/or socio-economic status.
  • The Lincoln community at large must have access to information technology tools available at Lincoln Community School.
  • Teachers and students must be appropriately and adequately trained to use and apply information technology tools.
  • Lincoln Community School must be adequately equipped with information technology tools and this equipment must be supported and maintained.

Committee Goals

The Lincoln Technology Committee will create a technology plan which ...

  • Enables all teachers and students to acquire a working understanding of technology.
  • Provides equal opportunity for all students.
  • Offers professional development programs for teachers and staff.
  • Provides adequate resources to achieve programmatic goals (equipment, training, and classroom support).
  • Establishes a recommended student to computer ratio.
  • Ensures community access to telecommunications resources for all Lincoln residents.
